Novel Coronavirus 2019 is a new coronavirus strain not previously identified in humans. On February 11, 2020 the World Health Organization announced SARS-CoV-2 as the official name of the new virus responsible for the COVID-19 disease.
The virus that causes COVID-19 appears to spreading easily in the community in some affected areas. This is why CDC recommends isolating infected individuals until they no longer pose a risk of infecting others. The CDC states that coronaviruses commonly spread from person to person through close personal contact, in the air by coughing or sneezing, touching surfaces or objects with the virus on it and then touching your nose, mouth or eyes before washing your hands.
